New Job, Shite Knees, Number 19 and the Summer

As every occasional blogger does I wont disappoint by saying, ‘I’ve not updated this in a while, so here goes nothing’.  And indeed, I’m no writer for the Guardian or even the Merseymart so my apologies one again for my lack of grammar and unappropriate use of a comma.

So I’ve started a new job.  Only a minutes drive away from  my house which is an absolute pleasure.  Not since my JJB days have I had such a short journey to work.  You  might be thinking why  I’m arsed.  It just essentially means more kip for me.  If I’m in for 9 then I only need to get up at 08.25.  I like a lot.  Just on a side note, I’m a bit gutted to hear that JJB in Hunts cross is closing down in a few weeks.  All the legends who worked there I’m sure will be a little bit gutted.  Many a happy time with the Chief Executive, Sean the Goat, Ste The Goon, The Gaffer and The Power, not forgetting Wilko.

This new job is with a bank again, it seems ok, just training at the moment so all is well. Sure when I get on the phones again I’ll be reaching for the noose.  Don’t know how long I’ll actually stick this one out.  With me having the visa for Canada, and this job paying less than a hand job off pagan maybe its right that I should go.  My theory to going out is simply that I’d rather do a shite job out there and experience new beers, bars and banter.  Or I could just stay, move out, get my own pad and think about getting that ‘career’ that I’ve thought about getting for the past decade. Both obviously have their good and bad points out, but with Canada, if I’m truly looking at going I want to go around November and do my usual trick of getting back for Leeds.

Shh, not long till Leeds.

My knees are facked, last Saturday was the first time when ive thought that my sport playing days are numbered, that is coming from the lad now though who is sat in a full football strip, including new boots (nice pair of Preds) organising a game for 5 a side for Saturday morning.  I might just give the Doc a ring, not seen Del in a while, see what he can do for me.

I didn’t stop believing.  Only when they scored to equalise against Blackburn I realised its gone.  All my life Liverpool have been the most successful club in English football in regards to league titles.  I remember driving home second to last league game of the season and Blackburn go one ahead.  I immediately rang my bitterest mate, Pagan to declare the race is still on and this was the wobble I’d been waiting for since we spanked them at Anfield and made them out to be the mugs they really are.  I was absolutely gutted when fat Wayne lashed the penalty in.  I don’t really think they have made the most of getting #19.  a pitiful showing on their end of season parade, I’m sure we’ve had more people show out for an un successful FA cup home coming.  Maybe they’ll have more celebrations next year, maybe.  I hope not.

Managed to get to a few more games, Fulham and Villa away, can’t remember much of either.

Looking forward to the summer, well it’s here, but I never really do much bar getting on the ale.  Might try and spank the overtime in work and get the G’s in so I can get rowdy when I do eventually hit the tiled dance floors of Liverpool city centre.  Going to Wales a week tomorrow, just to sit off in the cousins caravan for a weekend.  A lot of drinking and shooting on the agenda.  Be arsed with the fishing trips, although they do usually involve the aforementioned two.

Belfast. The stag do will hopefully will be another city I’ll never remember. I’ll report back after that.

we're forever throwing bottles

Money has been a bit of a twat recently.  If it’s not a ticket to something, it somebody or some company wanting from me, or even a company wanting me out because I cant make them any money.  Weird thing is I never actually struggle with money.  I’m on a gash wage, which is about to become even less as my probation in my current job is up in mid April, and I highly doubt I’ll be kept on.  The good news is that I have a new job which I can start on the 16th may if nothing else comes up in that time that will pay me more.  So I’m possibly looking at just under a month off work doing jack shit bar looking for jobs and signing on.

Been to a few games recently, Everton and United at home and West Ham and Sunderland away.  I’d only been to the Boleyn Ground once before, I think it will be a great shame when then eventually move to the Olympic Stadium.  One by one, teams will be moving to new grounds, and the experience of doing an away game at a naughty gaff like West Ham will be gone.  There will always be lower league teams who are going to be gobshites, even European teams who want to stab you, but by moving to new grounds a certain experience is taken away from any trip.  Either of the aforementioned are going to be regular affairs for most of the league.  Sunderland was sound, had a laugh with a load of their fans in the boozer and I enjoy that just as much as going to a horrible gaff and collecting all three.  I’ve never been to Arsenal, I’ll be looking at getting to that.

I’m a bit gutted that the St. Christophers season is coming to an end.  We’ve had an alright season.  Considering its our first season in the top flight we’ve done alright, hopefully third sport will be ours, need 6 points from two games really.  Looking to next season, we do need to strengthen our squad really, I need to get fit and learn to kick a ball if I want to play.  But as john pointed out when he left that the team is just a group of mates, and maybe expanding beyond that might not necessarily mean success.  I think there have been very few games we have been out played.  We made some horrific mistakes, but also had quality moments.

I’ve basically been granted a Canadian working holiday visa and I’m seriously considering going over.  I fancy just working in Toronto, doing a bit of the US and heading to the west coast as a holiday rather than stay for any massive length of time.  If I get a decent job over here that pays very well and I can see that progression is a realistic opportunity then I’ll use the money that I’ll have saved to move out.  Don’t think I’d buy my own gaff, maybe rather rent.  i’m not really prepared to move out of Liverpool for a job unless it was for mega bucks.  But I think we all know that’s not going to happen.

At the moment I’m looking forward to the Leeds festival, Phils wedding and Stag do (Belfast) and the summer in general.

I’d like to make it to T in the Park/Isle of Wight festival and also Wimbledon this year, see what happens.

So that’s a bit of an update, I’ll try and keep this a bit more up to date in the future.
